I thoroughly believe and endorse what you wrote. Especially your ability to see the positive in a truly cruel man’s vision.

Another upshot of Trump’s extreme measures is that many top scientists and researchers have begun to leave the USA for places more conducive to increasing knowledge and creating solutions. I personally know four in the process of moving away and I’m hardly ingrained into that world. The US is leaving its actual golden age and passing it onto the world, albeit unintentionally.

Still, I’m all for it. Africa is home to the origins of modern thought and science. It’s a great time for Africa to become a stronger part of improving the world.

Thanks for this Rudy, I really don’t know much about Trump’s tactics. I only know the little from my part of the looking glass.

Could you talk about it from an African’s POV?

He generally view negotiations as a win or lose situation. Someone wins and someone loses. It’s also very surface level type stuff because it seems that once “the deal” is done, there’s no reason to think about it. It might work in real estate— well, actually it doesn’t— he would’ve made more money from his inheritance with very basic investments— but it really doesn’t work for running a government. For instance, he wants to at least appear that he’s doing something about government spending. So he decides to create DOGE and just delete entire agencies or make large cuts to funding. On the surface it appears to save $20 million. He’s a boastful guy and says it’s $200 million. It may impress some people until it’s realized the US budget is in the TRILLIONS and this is like cleaning a windshield when a car has been in a terrible accident. And then realize the repurcussions of the initial action. While the agency may not be as efficient as it could be, there was still a purpose the agency was created so things like free school lunches, grants for medical research, aid to farmers, etc are cancelled. Some things definitely need to be reformed, but just erasing the department doesn’t really solve anything and actually creates more problems long term. And the other part of the equation is that things like medical research not only generates 4x the income of its cost and creates hundreds of thousands of jobs. That all goes away so he can claim he cut $200 million (again, a number that isn’t true), but it costs BILLIONS in the long term.

Trump is someone who built his reputation on what a great business person he is when the truth is he’d be worth more (and avoided many bankruptcies) if he had invested his inheritance in a basic S&P stock market portfolio. But that’s not as fun as paying to put your name on buildings you didn’t construct or owning a casino that somehow manages to go out of business.
